[Daily Photo] Burton Memorial Tower at dusk

I went to the Ann Arbor Summer Festival on Central Campus of the University of Michigan in the evening. There were so many people enjoying the music and food at Ingalls Mall in front of Rackham Building. After snapping some photos of the events, I moved to the other side of Ingalls Mall where it was not so crowded. The Burton Memorial Tower was just beside me and it looked amazing at night. I couldn't help but take this long exposure photo.

I went to my first Major League Baseball (MLB) game at Fenway Park (in Boston, Massachusetts), America's oldest working Major League ballpark, which is 100 years old. I came into Fenway Park 2 hours before the game started to take photos before it was too crowded. It was a day game and the weather was perfect. This photo was taken from outfield seats.

我來到波士頓的芬威球場來體驗我的第一場美國職棒大聯盟比賽。我在開賽前2小時就進到球場，趁著人潮尚未擁擠四處拍照。今年是芬威球場100歲的生日，是大聯盟目前尚在服役中最老的球場。

There was a thunderstorm in the late evening. After a while, I found there was a huge rainbow in the sky. I rushed out of my house and took this photo. I have seen many rainbows in my life, but none of them were at sunset like today. I was astonished by the beautiful orange color of sunet and the clearness of the rainbow.

你可能看過很多次彩虹，但你不一定有在夕陽下欣賞彩虹的經驗。今天傍晚下了大雷雨。雷雨過後，我在屋內抬頭望向窗外，竟發現一彎彩虹掛在天際。我立刻拿起相機衝出屋外拍了這張照片。因為剛下過雨，天空中水氣充沛，所以彩虹十分明顯；再加上夕陽餘暉的照映，整個天空美的不像真的。

This is the lobby of Rackham Graduate School Building, located on Central Campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I love exploring such beautiful buildings like this one. My favorite part of this photo is the colorful crossbeams of the ceiling.

這是密西根大學瑞克漢學院的大廳。屋頂色彩繽紛的橫樑令我聯想到東方宮殿的雕樑畫棟。

[Daily Photo] Sunset near Undergraduate Science Building

I was taking sunset photos on Central Campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor near the Power Plant. The building on the left is Undergraduate Science Building and the tallest building in the background is North Quad. However, I didn't anticipate that most of sunset colors were blocked by the buildings in the background.

這一天傍晚我來到密西根大學中校區的發電廠附近拍夕陽。出乎我意料之外，這一區背景建築物多又高，把大部分我想拍的夕照都擋住了。

I took this photo at North Bay Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The bridge connected to a long and narrow trail on the lake. The view on the trail is really astonishing.

I was on Central Campus of the University of Michigan near Palmer Field. There are  tennis courts near the busy Washtenaw Ave. The empty courts with colorful night scene on the background just looked amazing.

[Daily Photo] Inside the blacksmith's shop / 古老的打鐵舖內

This photo was taken inside the Cotswold Forge at Greenfield Village (located in Dearborn, Michigan). The Forge was built in Snowshills, England in the Cotswold region in the 1600s, and was reconstructed in the Greenfield Village in 1931. Blacksmiths made and repaired iron tools in this Forge. You can see how many tools they had for blacksmithing.

在密西根州的綠野村內有一間重建的英國古老打鐵舖。看了才知道原來鐵匠的工具這麼多，光是火鉗就有好幾種。

[Daily Photo] Bee and peony 2 / 蜂與芍藥

I posted a photo of "Bee and peony" two weeks ago. This is another photo I took on the same day. Although the bee is smaller than the one in the previous photo, it still match perfectly with the peony.

兩星期前我發表過一張「蜜蜂與牡丹花」的照片，這張照片也是同一天拍攝的。照片中的蜜蜂雖然比前一張的小，卻也不失風采。上網查了資料才發現原來「芍藥」和「牡丹」英文都是同一個字peony。二者的不同之處在於牡丹是木本植物，長的像樹；而芍藥是早本植物，沒有明顯的樹幹。所以牡丹的英文也有人稱為tree peony.

This photo was taken on Central Campus at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The building at the bottom is the Law Library, which was built underground. The building on the top is the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, which is the business school of the University of Michigan. I also have posted other photos of Law Library and Ross School of Business.

[Daily Photo] Inside the Ford home / 亨利福特的家

I was in the replicated house of Henry Ford in Greenfield Village (in Dearborn, Michigan). The famous Henry Ford was born in this house. When I was visiting this house, two enthusiastic older ladies dressed in the style of 300 years ago acted as tour guides.

在密西根州的綠野村裡有一間亨利福特的家(重製的)。當時屋內沒有其他遊客，卻有兩個穿著古裝的老婦人在閒聊，著實把我嚇了一大跳。霎時間我以為我闖進不對外開放參觀的地方，後來才知道她們原來是負責在屋內導覽的員工，她們熱心地向我介紹這間房子的歷史。

[Daily Photo] Colorful terraces in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone / 黃石公園內的彩色梯田

This photo was taken in Mammoth Hot Springs of Yellowstone National Park. What I like about these terraces is that they are actually living things. The water of hot springs breed numerous lives.

此照片拍攝於美國黃石公園內的猛瑪溫泉區。我喜歡這些梯田的原因是他們其實是活的，有無數的生命孕育在火山的溫泉水中。

[Daily Photo] Bee and peony / 蜜蜂與牡丹花

I took this photo at the Peony Garden of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I used a shutter speed of 1/2000 sec to capture this photo. To achieve this, I set the ISO up to 640. I took many photos of this busy bee collecting nectar, and this is my favorite one. It was flying toward another flower.

密西根大學的牡丹花園內百花齊放，我在園中追著蜜蜂拍照。這枝蜜蜂正採完花蜜，飛向下一個目的地。

[Daily Photo] Beautiful tree beside the trail / 小徑旁美麗的樹木

I found this beautiful tree while I was walking along the trail in Matthaei Botanical Gardens (in Ann Arbor, Michigan). I am really satisfied with the composition of this photo. The location of the tree fits the "Rule of Thirds"; the trail on the foreground extends to the back of the tree; the location of the red barn at the background is also great.

此照片於密西根大學植物花園內的小徑上拍攝。我很滿意這張照片的構圖。大樹的位置符合井字構圖原則；小徑由前方延伸至大樹後方；遠方的紅色穀倉給照片增添了鮮艷的色彩。

I took this photo of an old lathe (a machine tool) in Thomas Edison's Menlo Park Machine Shop in Greenfield Village (located in Dearborn, Michigan). There are many antique machines preserved in Greenfield Village and some are still working. Items in the Village such as signs are made by these old machines.

此照片拍攝於密西根州的綠野村，亨利福特集團在這裡保存了許多古老的機械。讓我覺得有趣的是，這些東西不僅僅是被保存下來而已，許多工具都還正在使用中。村中的工人刻意使用這些老機械來製造村中的東西，例如路牌。

Today I went to the University of Michigan Peony Garden (in Ann Arbor, Michigan). The Peonies are in full bloom now. It was really hard to do HDR photography on this windy day because the flower just would't stand still long enough. I tried my best to process this photo from one single shot.

[Daily Photo] Small houses for Fairies and Trolls / 小精靈和地精的小屋

This place is Fairy Woods & Troll Hollow in Nichols Arboretum (in Ann Arbor, Michigan) where Fairies and Trolls roam in this forest. People built these small houses at the bottom of tree trunks for them. See if you can find any Fairies or Trolls in this photo.

密西根大學的植物園內有一處名為妖精森林的地方。在這裡人們在樹幹根部用樹枝搭建起一間間的小屋，希望給守護森林的精靈們一個溫暖的家。
