[Daily Photo] Northern Cardinal in woods /

Share this :
Today I have two photos of Northern Cardinal to share with you. I believe one of the famous "Angry Bird" is based on Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis). I took these photos in Nichols Arboretum of the University of Michigan (in Ann Arbor, Michigan). I was walking along the trail in the Arboretum. There were not yet many flowers in this early spring, so everything looked green. Then I saw a red spot among tree branches, and I recognized it was a bird. I switched my camera lens to a telephoto lens as fast as possible. I started to take photos from far away, and tried to get close to it slowly. However, at some distance I scared it and it flew away.

[Daily Photo] Weeping cherry blossom tree and Earl. V. Moor Building /

Share this :
I was driving on North Campus of the University of Michigan, trying to find some flowers in this early spring. Then I found this beautiful weeping cherry blossom tree beside the Earl. V. Moor Building, which hosted School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. I always feel a little awkward when I walk into some buildings with my camera on my shoulder and tripod fully extended in my hand. However, when I went into this building, I felt totally comfortable because almost everybody in this building is carrying an instrument (some instruments are even bigger than my photo gear).

[Daily Photo] Stone cross in Forest Hill Cemetery /

Share this :
I went to Forest Hill Cemetery (in Ann Arbor, Michigan) on a foggy day. It is an old cemetery near downtown Ann Arbor. I found this old stone crucifix with beautiful moss patterns. I set the aperture of my lens to the largest value (F2.8) to get this shallow depth of field (DOF) shot.

[Daily Photo] Inside the greenhouse /

I took this photo inside the Conservatory of the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens (in Ann Arbor, Michigan). This greenhouse is really amazing. You can find various kinds of exotic plants here, such as plants from tropical areas, deserts, the Mediterranean, and Asia. Many of plants are blooming now (even cactus).

[Daily Photo] Inside the Bob and Betty Beyster Building

Share this :
This photo was taken inside the Bob and Betty Beyster Building (also known as Computer Science and Engineering Building), located on North Campus, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I love the interior design of this building, especially the beautiful spiral staircase. It was totally an accident how I found this amazing place for photography. The day before I took this photo, my wife asked me to meet her at the EECS Building, but I went to the wrong place. I went to the CSE Building (the building in this photo), and I was surprised by its interior design. Therefore, I brought my camera and took some photos the next day.
